These milkies were a great advert for the daily pinta.

The Unigate milkmen had just completed the punishing 25-mile Royal Military Police march in 1987.

In 1987 customers in Emsworth and Hayling Island sponsored them to the tune of £1,100 in aid of Emsworth Stroke Club.

Chris Pannell, of Brompton Road, Southsea, sent this photograph and her father Ron Bloomer (standing at the back with member Betty Manley) was a member until his death in 1990.

The walkers (from the left) were: Ray Ditchfield, Alan Knight, Maggie Ditchfield, Chris’s husband Paul Pannell, and Keith Middleton, who is still a milkman for Dairy Crest.
