Two pictures here today from Portchester for which dates are needed please.

The plea comes from Portchester Civic Society which tomorrow holds its annual Memories of Portchester exhibition.

The society has been garnering photographs for more than 15 years, some going back to the late 1800s, along with other memorabilia and paintings.

Paul Woodman from the society says: ‘Especially popular are the school class photos and we now have more than 260, the earliest being of a class in 1896.

‘The recent celebration of Portchester Community School’s 75th anniversary brought in even more when we put a display in the foyer of the school.’

Tomorrow’s exhibition, in the parish hall, Castle Street, Portchester, is open from 10am until 4.30pm. Entry is £2.
