Packing cases, boxes and assorted luggage are unloaded on the dockside from HMS Renown as the Duke and Duchess of York return to Portsmouth on June 27, 1927, after a marathon trip to Australia.

They left Portsmouth on January 6 and during their six-month tour the royal couple travelled 35,000 miles.

While in Australia the duke opened the first parliament in the new capital of Canberra.

Among the gifts brought home were a number of toys for the young Princess Elizabeth, and a parrot in cage.
