Not some far flung island but Port Creek alongside Eastern Road, Portsmouth, earlier this week. I counted more than 50 plastic bottles along with other man-made filth.

Have your say

I expect many of you will remember the great Portsmouth shopping experience that was David Greig’s.

It was the only place to buy your ham cut straight off the bone.

He had several shops in the Portsmouth area one which was in London Road, North End (at Kingston Cross to be precise) and pictured here in the 1960s.

To the right of the open space was the National Provincial Bank and in the open space once stood the City Library along with the City Police Station before the new station in Kingston Crescent was built.

Today Greig’s and the bank are long gone and three shops fill the space with flats above.
