This picture of masters at Portsdown School, Paulsgrove, from the 1950s, prompted Eileen Fletcher and her husband Tony to get in touch on several counts.
Tony, then of Lydney Close, Paulsgrove, was presented with this Gideons bible in 1957 when he left the school and, as was the tradition then, got many of the teachers to autograph it.
He and Eileen (nee Rowsell), of Barncroft Way, Bedhampton, also thought readers would be interested to see this picture of Tony’s father, Ted Fletcher (third from the left in the back row) with colleagues from the old Brickwoods brewery in Portsmouth on their annual outing which they think would have been in the early 1950s.
It looks like they were having fun in a seaside location, but does anyone know where and put names to the other gents?
Finally, Eileen would like help identifying some of her classmates at Flying Bull Lane Junior Girls’ School, Portsmouth, in 1956/7.
She is fifth from the right in the front row and these are the names she can remember.
Back row (l to r): Margaret Saunders, ?, ?, Lynda Price, ?, Sandra Brunyee, ?, Jeanette Coleman, Carol Hodges, Maralyn Goddard.
Front row: Susan Madwhick or Madgwick, Gloria Goddard, ?, Sandra Goddard, Ann Wedge, Eileen Rowsell, Hilary Wilson, ?, ?, ?.
