The Andrews Sisters may have sung about the bugle boy of Company B, but perhaps if they had visited Gosport a different young man would have caught their eye.

In this picture we see the boys of the St Vincent bugle band around the late 1930s.

There were two boys training establishments in the Royal Navy – HMS Ganges at Shotley near Ipswich and the other at HMS St Vincent in Gosport.

The establishment is now St Vincent College.
