CHILDREN can take part in a free day of outdoor games and activities.

It will be held on Saturday from 12pm to 3pm in Priory Park, Chichester. The Spring into Life! event is part of Outdoor Play Week.

Children of all ages can come join in activities including ultimate frisbee, parachute games, making an insect hotel, a tree trail, guided history walks, football, den building and cricket coaching.

Councillor Nick Thomas, who is responsible for sport and leisure at Chichester District Council, said: ‘This is an event for the whole family to encourage being active and playing outdoors, particularly in our district’s parks and open spaces.

‘Children can experience a whole raft of benefits from outdoor play including improved physical fitness, confidence and better social skills. I hope this event will encourage greater use of parks and the district’s countryside throughout the year.’

Outdoor Play Week is being run to give families a taste for outdoor fun and adventure. It is an initiative supported by the Department of Health, Natural England, Play England and Wellbeing South East.
