CHIPPER CLUB: Barbecuing and basking in the sun at our family beach hut

Greetings Chipsters everywhere! You may notice now it's getting closer to summer that the beach is getting a lot busier.

I love going to the beach at Eastney in the summer – the breeze in my fur, the smell of sunscreen, and, of course, the taste of ice cream... there’s nothing I don’t love about it!

We adore our trips to Eastney beach so much that last year, mum and dad decided to use some of their savings to rent one of the beach huts.

You’ve probably seen rows and rows of the huts near the seaside – they’re like colourful sheds, but you don’t put tools and old chairs in there.

You can have a barbecue outside, or sit in the shade and read a book – it’s like a little seaside paradise.

When it was really sunny on Sunday we were anxious to use our hut for the first time this year. We couldn’t wait to open its doors and bask in the sunshine once again.

There were lots of other families who had their own beach huts there, so I made plenty of new friends. There was Steph the Staffy, and Charlie the Chihuahua, who I ran around on the grass with for ages and ages until we could barely stand.

After we’d had a bit of a snooze on the grass, we also met Francois the French Bulldog. He had a beach ball which he could only headbutt because his face was too squashed to grab the ball with his teeth.

It’s probably a good thing that he couldn’t do that – the ball might have popped!

When the weather started to cool down, dad fired up the barbecue and cooked some burgers, prawns on a skewer and – my favourite – hot dogs.

When we ate all of our food, mum treated us to a little ice cream. I was told that I could have a big ice cream because I was good and ate all my dinner – even my salad! It was a truly perfect lazy Sunday at the beach...

Chip chip for now, your old friend Chipper.
