IT STARTED as a promise between two seven-year-old girls.
Best friends Jodi West and Elise Conway vowed that one day they would have their own dance school.
Now, both at the age of 30, they are celebrating the 10th birthday of their dance school, Brightstars Dance Academy in Park Lane, Bedhampton.
The pair struck up a friendship at Jean Marks School of Dance in Portsmouth and have been inseparable ever since.
Ten years ago they started dance sessions at a church hall in Bedhampton and within four years they had their own premises.
The school now has more than 100 students.
Jodi, from North End in Portsmouth, said: ‘It’s absolutely amazing.
‘It’s one of those things you say when you are little and no-one takes any notice.
‘When we opened the dance school, everyone said “it won’t last, you’ll have an argument”.
‘But we are the best of friends and will be forever and ever. The dance school works well because we are so close.’
‘It’s really nice.’
