Homemade scenes of bears getting up to antics in Drayton garden bring delight to neighbours

IF YOU go down to Drayton today, you’re sure of a big surprise - as a family of bears have taken over a front garden with their daily antics.

Amusing scenes of bears visiting landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids of Giza, tackling obstacle courses and visiting a McDonald’s drive thru have captured the attention of people passing through Tregaron Avenue recently.

Homemade structures and props have been dug out from around the house by the Barber family, who have been creating the settings and putting them out each day to entertain neighbours.

Michael Barber, with help from Eleanor, 19, Samuel, 17, and 14-year-old Lottie, has been spending lockdown weekends getting creative to put new ideas together for the bears to enjoy.

Michael said: ‘It started off as a bit of a joke because everyone was putting bears in the window. It’s not costing us anything, it’s just time at the weekend to build some cardboard structures with whatever we can find around the house.

‘It’s a bit of fun for us but it’s also fun for people walking past - people do seem to have been captured by it.’

Pictures are being shared on community Facebook pages, as neighbours and passers-by can’t seem to get enough of the mischievous bears.
