OF all the wine styles that have caught my attention over the past six months, it’s New Zealand pinot noir that I keep returning to.

These endlessly fascinating wines seem to be constantly improving. There are three main regions – Marlborough, Martinborough and Otago. But it’s the latter that’s the most exciting.

At a tasting recently I was fortunate to taste my way through a range of wines from Otago’s Mount Difficulty winery, an estate with a fantastic reputation. I was certainly not disappointed.

If you want to taste some of the world’s best pinot noir, this is the place to head. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
