Over the past few months I have been writing about some of our wonderful growers, producers, farmers, and farm shops in the surrounding area.

Due to the current situation we are all in, it is going to be difficult to visit them to buy their products.

The farm shops are still open allowing a few customers in at a time, and I would love you to support the other producers by using their delivery services.

My restaurant, Fat Olives in Emsworth, has closed and I will continue to write a recipe on a weekly basis. Some of you will have extra time on your hands to practice your culinary skills while key workers will be working harder than ever, so I will try to do some simple recipes and some a bit more challenging.

Most of you will have the ingredients for this soda bread which is really quick and easy so should appeal to everyone.

Ingredients

400g flour (wholemeal or white)

Tspn bicarbonate of soda

Good pinch of salt

200ml water

100ml milk

Juice from half a lemon

Tbspn olive oil

Method

1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl to form a sticky dough.

2. Tip the dough onto a floured surface and gently work into a ball.

3. Put the dough ball onto a lightly floured baking tray.

4. Make a cross cut in the dough.

5. Bake in a preheated oven 180C gas 6 for 30 to 40 mins.

7. Allow to cool.
