Have your say

I have always written that the most important thing when it comes to choosing wine is to drink what you enjoy.

Of course the best way to achieve this is to taste before you buy and there is just such an opportunity being presented at a Festive Wine Fayre at the Brookfield Hotel, Emsworth on Thursday November 7. Organised by Havant Hockey Club in conjunction with Hermitage Cellars, proceeds from the ticket sales go to a fundraising campaign for a new clubhouse and pitches. From Bollinger Champagne to Australia’s oldest family-owned winery Yalumba and many in between, there will more than 40 wines to taste from some top producers. Tickets available from the Brookfield Hotel, Emsworth – – priced at £5 each. The tasting opens at 7pm and finishes at 9.30pm.

Vasse Felix Sauvignon Blanc, 2012

A Margaret River wine and one of my favourites of the year so far. It has lime and tropical fruits on the nose; the palate has a little creaminess, nice weight, wonderfully balanced acidity and a great finish. Try this with a prawn and chilli linguini.

Waitrose, £13.99, Hermitage Cellars £10.60 on offer from £12.45 at the Festive Wine Fayre.
