Raving on to Buddy Holly – Nostalgia

Have your say

I am one of the biggest fans of the late, great Buddy Holly. I have many vinyl LPs, singles and CDs of his work.

On my Angel Radio show, to where I shall be returning hopefully in 2019, he was always requested by listeners.

In my youth I sang many of his songs and in one band I would go off stage and return in a dark suit, glassless, horn-rimmed glasses and play the part as if I was on the Stars in Their Eyes TV programme.

There’s a new CD of Buddy’s music with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra called Buddy Holly – True Love Ways which has been well received by his wife Maria Elena.

At first I was not too impressed but after a few plays it grew on me and I now play it continually. Even my six-year old granddaughter Verity loves it.

I am not sure about the orchestrated rock’n’roll songs but the ballads work a treat. The tracks include True Love Ways, It Doesn’t Matter Anymore, Raining In My Heart and Heartbeat.
