We head for all things maritime today and a look at the commercial side of the shipping industry in Portsmouth, courtesy of Helen Mabel Smith.
Our water-borne journey ends with a touch of regal splendour in Portsmouth Harbour via a crossing of Langstone Harbour which, at present, is no longer possible.
From The Camber and Flathouse Quay we sail for the Hayling Ferry pontoon before getting a glimpse of two radically different giants from naval history – an Admiralty floating dock and the Royal Yacht Britannia.
These are further pictures from Helen’s collection.
She lived from 1906 to 1990 and was headteacher at Paulsgrove East Infant School.
She taught in the city for 40 years and had also been head of Albert Road Junior School, Cosham.
