Two further pictures today from Ralph Cousins’s excellent booklet entitled A History of Leigh Park and the Hamlet of Leigh.
In the picture above we see some of the earliest shops in Park Parade in the 1950s.
The author’s 14hp Wolseley car is on the left.
Below, we see the long-gone branch of Lloyds Bank and Corbins shoe shop.

And the final picture is rather a strange sight, a three-masted schooner berthed on Canoe Lake, Southsea.
This smaller version of the real thing must have been around in the early part of the last century but if anyone knows anything about itplease let me know.
