Southsea Greenhouse has a makeover

It has been necessary to undertake some belated spring cleaning at Southsea Greenhouse this week.

Firstly, the vegetable beds have come under attack from slugs and snails which seem to have thrived in the recent damp warm weather.

Some beds have been protected by a protective border of coffee grounds sourced from the local café, but to deter them at source, surrounding flower beds have been weeded and cut back.

Secondly, the cabin roof sprang minor leaks during the winter.

While the external problems have been fixed, the internal ceiling and roof insulation need replacing.

The first step towards this was a serious clear-out and clean-up to enable the builders to work their magic. The resulting free space will make an excellent craft and activity workshop.
