A Portsmouth firm of chartered surveyors, engineers and architects has completed its acquisition of another property services company.
McAndrew Martin has set the seal on the merger with Veness Chartered Surveyors after its staff joined the firm on the Fairway Business Centre.
Led by Ken Veness, who founded the practice in 1973, they have relocated from their former offices in Cosham.
The acquisition was McAndrew Martin’s second of 2014 - its 25th-anniversary year - after it took over Brunel Design Services in January.
Ian Lee, a director at McAndrew Martin, said: ‘Veness bring more than 40 years of experience and expertise to McAndrew Martin.
‘The completion of the acquisition has gone very smoothly and we are pleased to welcome Ken and his team as part of the McAndrew Martin family.
‘This expansion was the icing on the cake in our record 25th anniversary year and we look forward to building on our successful 2014 with Veness for many years to come.’
Veness was founded in 1973 and has clients throughout Hampshire and Sussex, offering such services as residential and land surveys for private, public and commercial clients.
Ken Veness joins McAndrew Martin as a consultant along with chartered surveyor Alf Wimshurst and secretaries Tina Davies and Helen Taylor.
The acquisition increases McAndrew Martin’s staff numbers to 20.
Ken said:‘We are all excited by this move.
‘We look forward to sharing our many years of knowledge, expertise and experience to create one of the leading practices in the area.’ McAndrew Martin announced plans for the acquisition at its 25 Years at the Top celebration at the Spinnaker Tower earlier in the autumn. McAndrew Martin has also launched a Land and New Homes division, recorded a 40 per cent increase in demand for its surveys, relaunched its website and gained Safecontractor status during 2014.
It has raised £4,300 for Help for Heroes over the past 12 months, including £785 raised at its Spinnaker Tower event.
The donation was handed over to the charity on Armistice Day recently.
