When David Noble and his partner Zoe Atkins began looking for their first home together, they didn’t expect to find everything they wanted on a new-build development – but that’s exactly what they discovered at Taylor Wimpey’s Wellington Park in Waterlooville, Hampshire.
The couple, pictured right, were initially looking for an older property, but one visit to the leading housebuilder’s popular development was enough to convince them to change their minds!
‘We wanted to get out of the city and move into a larger house in a more rural location,’ explains David (34).
‘We were completely against new builds at first. But we were driving past the development at Wellington Park one day and thought we’d just pop in and compare it to what we’d been looking at, and to see what we could get for our money.
‘We were really impressed with what we saw – it was the right size for the right price, and very light and airy. We loved the impressive staircase in the hallway that made for a very grand opening to the house, and when we saw the large kitchen/diner it was enough to make us change our minds.’
Having moved into their new four-bedroom home in December 2014, David and Zoe (32) are loving the peaceful setting of Wellington Park on the edge of the countryside. ‘There’s a lovely old oak tree just outside our front door that gives the house real character,’ David adds. ‘It was protected by a preservation order so they had to build around it and it looks really nice.
‘The outside of the house was designed in a farmhouse style, giving it an old-fashioned look that fits in with the locality as there’s a stream opposite so we get a lot of wildlife – I’ve seen owls, herons, all kinds of birds, so there’s a nice country feel about it.
‘The development is right on the edge of Waterlooville so there’s a short walk to the shops in town, but in the other direction is proper countryside where we love walking Juno, our Jack Russell dog.’
The couple used Part Exchange to purchase their new home and were delighted with how smooth the process turned out to be. ‘It went perfectly,’ David says. ‘Taylor Wimpey sent a couple of estate agents round for a valuation, and a couple of days later the sales centre called with a good offer.
‘We didn’t expect it to go that quickly, especially as we hadn’t made a firm decision to buy at that point. But the offer was very good so we went back to the sales office at Wellington Park, looked at the options and reserved the plot.’’
