ALISTAIR GIBSON: Focusing on family, food and the perfect wines to match

It is not just us who enjoy tucking into a festive feast.

The otters at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Southsea have been dining on a special Christmas dinner, as keepers at the award-winning Southsea wildlife attraction have been preparing a series of festive-themed meals.

Among the items on the Christmas menu are turkey, cabbage, carrots, Brussels sprouts, nuts and raisins.

Visitors to the family attraction can see the otters tuck into meals they clearly enjoy.

Blue Reef's Jenna MacFarlane said: 'The otters absolutely love it and clearly got a whiff of it as we brought it out because they were all eagerly waiting.

'It took a lot of hard work to create but was pretty much entirely consumed within a couple of minutes – still, at least it proved they really appreciated it.

'We're always trying to introduce new things to keep them stimulated.'

The meals have been served throughout December, with the final Christmas dish for the otters being handed out today.

To see them enjoying it, call into the Blue Reef Aquarium on Southsea seafront, which is open from 10am (closed tomorrow).
