Andrew Windsor, from Chichester, has a passion and talent for racing – competing in UK Classic Superbike series Thundersport GB, where he has been consistently finishing in the top five, he is considered by many to be a natural rider.

This year, he has teamed up with classic motorcycle and car dealership Comet Classics, to enter the Festival of Speed.

The only motorcycle race at this year’s Goodwood event is the Hailwood Trophy.

Almost 30 bikes have been entered and all the competitors are either hi-profile professional riders, championship winners, or experienced classic bike racers – so the pressure is certainly on for Andrew and his crew.

Andrew will be racing on a 1984 Yamaha TZ 250 two-stroke classic – the second time that he will have raced on the machine at Goodwood.

Last year’s attempt was a bit of a disaster for Andrew, who saw his two-stroke engine blow on the warm-up lap.

This has led to a massive overhaul of the machine, in preparation for this year’s event.

Andrew Windsor said: ‘I am over the moon to have the opportunity to compete again this year. It is a dream come true, and more than anything I want to do my friends and sponsors Martin and Ray at Comet Classics proud and give them a top result to thank them for making this happen.’

Martin Webb from Comet Classics added: ‘To have one of our bikes competing in such a world-class event is amazing. We are delighted to team up with Andrew again this year, he is a local rider and business owner and we are very proud to able to support him. Getting a top result would be just fantastic’.

The event will be taking place this weekend, on March 18 and 19 and kicks off the motoring season at Goodwood.
