AN EXHIBITION celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela is set to open on Friday.

Dubbed Mandela 100, the showcase has been organised by the African Women’s Forum (AWF) and will go on display at Central Library in Guildhall Walk.

Boosted by £28,100 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, its aim is to teach people about the values the South African anti-apartheid revolutionary held. Its name ties in with Mandela’s birth date, July 18, 1918, a century ago.

Ahead of its launch, organisers of the exhibition are also trying to speak to people from Portsmouth pictured at anti-apartheid marches and Mandela’s visit to Brixton, London in 1996.
