THIS week saw the much anticipated opening of Pier House - 14 luxury apartments moments from the foreshore in Lee-on-the-Solent.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Gosport met with a congregation including Hedley Greentree, architect and one of the directors of Jentree Mitre along with Marcus Scrace and Ian Sanderson.

Councillors John Beavis MBE, Grahame Burgess and Derek Kimber were also in attendance, to watch the Mayor cut the ribbon on this historical building.

The opening comes after 18 months of anticipation and much hard work by all involved and has provided a beautiful landmark in the centre of Lee-on-the-Solent seafront, retaining the character of the original building with cutting edge designs and practical living spaces.

There are also many green features including photo-voltaic panels providing free lighting for communal areas and grey water recovery systems, recycling rainwater for toilet flushes.

Gas central heating is underfloor, leaving more wall space and kitchens come fully equipped and ready to use.
