Move was plain sailing

Location and family were the key reasons why Bianca Carr and her international yachtsman husband David moved to CALA Homes’ Aubin Wood development in Emsworth.

The couple, who have two boys – Mason who is five and Dylan aged nine months – moved last November after travelling the world with David’s work.

Bianca said: ‘We’re from Winchester originally and we did live in Southampton for a while, but over the last few years we’ve been abroad a lot, living in San Francisco, New Zealand and Italy. We needed to come back though, because Mason was turning five and he was due to start school.’

The couple chose CALA Homes’ Aubin Wood development due to its perfect location. Bianca said: ‘We knew we wanted to be in Emsworth because Dave’s parents are here and he also wanted to be near Hayling Island Sailing Club, where he sailed as a child. We looked at one property at Aubin Wood but we took too long deciding and missed out. So when this property came up for sale we knew we wanted to be here and we had to move quickly.’

The Carrs bought their home off plan and watched it being built. Bianca said: ‘We watched our home go up and were able to move in in November. We’re so delighted with our move here, it’s our ideal family home. We have a lovely plot and we’re getting the garden done ready for the summer. We are surrounded by trees, the beach is on the doorstep and our five-year-old is already enrolled at Hayling Island Sailing Club where he goes to Little Pirates Club with his dad.’

The family are glad to be settled ahead of a busy time for David, who has joined Sir Ben Ainslie’s team, Ben Ainslie Racing, to compete in the America’s Cup.

Mrs Carr said: ‘Dave has known Ben for years but was very excited to receive a call to say he wanted him on his team. Dave has done the last four America’s Cups but this one will be especially meaningful, racing for a British team on a British boat, with the Duchess of Cambridge as the patron.’

Aubin Wood is a collection of detached, semi-detached and terraced two, three and four-bedroom homes and contemporary two-bedroom apartments nestled on the edge of Emsworth. Classically designed and sympathetic to its peaceful wooded setting, Aubin Wood is a small development built around a village green featuring an established oak tree. After launching to the public early last year, the development is now over 80 per cent sold. There are now just two four-bedroom detached houses remaining, plus a final selection of two and three-bedroom semi and terraced cottages. Prices for a four-bedroom home at Aubin Wood start at £465,000 and the tw0-beds start from £265,000.
