In 1973 they returned to Waterlooville where they have been members of the congregation at St George’s Church for nearly 40 years.

Between 1973 and 1985, Eric was head of liberal studies at Portsmouth’s Highbury College and oversaw the development of the very successful journalism course, as well as the educational courses for more than 1,000 students each year, on courses from carpentry to art and design.

Pam has been a great ambassador for the Traidcraft charity for many years and since retiring from Highbury, Eric has been a St George’s Church warden, treasurer and also a Portsmouth Diocese Church Council member.

They celebrated with their close family which includes four children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eric says: ‘Sixty years is a long time but in some ways our wedding and my time at Highbury just seems just like yesterday.’
