Vera Turtle celebrated a milestone birthday as she has just turned 100.

Vera, who has lived in Portsmouth and Isle of Wight area all her life, had a party with her family and friends at the weekend to celebrate the day.

When she was younger, Vera worked as a barmaid at a public house in Commercial Road and she also worked in a bar with her sister, Gladys.

It was here that she met her husband Andy, who worked at the dockyard when he came into the pub with his brother.

She had two children, Helen and Alex, and now has six grandchildren, Hayley, Michael, Ivor, Tony, Juliet, and Nicky.

Vera also has a number of great-grandchildren.

She lives at St Ronan’s Nursing Home, in Southsea, where she regularly joins in with the games and wears matching earrings and necklaces every day.
