THIS WEEK IN 1975: Reunited after 30 years – but only thanks to a kind stranger

Have your say

Autumn looms and the nights are drawing in fast, so this week my fun-loving, artistic friends, I thought I’d set you a creative challenge to complete after you’ve finished your homework.

As you know, loom bands are all the rage at the moment and I like nothing more than being taken for a walk, especially at this time of the year when the leaves are crunchy under-paw and there’s a nip in the air.

So I have combined the two and come up with a brilliant competition in conjunction with those lovely people at Jollyes Petfood Superstore at Hambledon Road, Waterlooville.

You see, I’ve been chewing my lead so vigorously that it’s time for a new one. And being a rather hip and cool kind of mutt, what could be better than having a colourful loom band lead made by my legion of Chipper fans?

All you have to do is get those fingers whirring, create a length of loom band and send it to me. Then, when all your entries are in, I shall join them together and have a kaleidoscopic new lead.

Before I do that I shall pick one of your entries out of my deepest bowl and that Chipster will win one of the goldfish aquariums (pictured here) from Jollyes.

So, get weaving. Send your entries to me at Chipper, The News, 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, Portsmouth, PO6 3EN, or bring it in to my kennel at Lakeside. The closing date is October 11. And as this week’s column is all about me, I thought you’d enjoy some dog-related jokes.

Have fun and chip chip for now.

Woof! Chipper.

Remember that school word search competition I created for you the other week? Well, it’s time to reveal the winners.

So, with the usual drum roll banged out on the back wall of my kennel, here are the Chipsters who have triumphed this week, each of them winning a Horrible Histories book:

Suzy McDonald (144)

Erica Walsh (1634)

Alex Johnson (429)

Bryony Reid (2054)

Adam Newell (4036)

Well done the fabulous five.

But if you did not win, do not worry. Have a go at this week’s competition, in The News today, to win tickets to see Peppa Pig.
