There are some beautiful areas to walk around in Portsmouth, whether it be along the seafront or up on top of Portsdown Hill.

The Alzheimer’s Society has launched its annual fundraising event which will give Portsmouth residents the chance to see some of these spectacular views with the Portsmouth Memory Walk 2012.

Taking place tomorrow, there is a choice of a short 3km walk or a longer 10km walk with views across the Isle of Wight, Southsea Castle and the Historic Dockyard. Both walks start from Castle Field, the southernmost tip of Portsmouth.

Well-known faces at the walking events will include Portsmouth FC MC Touchline Tony and the Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor Frank Jonas.

A variety of entertainment and refreshments will also be available, helping make it a day to remember for the whole family.

This year’s Memory Walk is taking place in partnership with Bupa Care Homes. Together with the Alzheimer’s Society, they aim to support more people living with dementia through the vital funds that are raised.

The money raised from the walk will help support people with dementia and their carers. Walkers can sign up to take part by going to You can also register on the day before the start at 11am.
