Themed events are taking place to celebrate the bicentenary of Portsmouth’s greatest literary figure, Charles Dickens, on February 7.

A Tale of One City – a free exhibition displaying what life was like in Portsmouth during the Dickens era – is being held at the City Museum.

Also, the birthplace museum will be open for an extended period this year, with celebratory activities planned throughout this month.

Both venues open their doors to the public tomorrow.

The Groundlings Theatre in Portsea is hosting a range of Dickens themed events, including living museum tours on Monday, Friday and Sunday next week and Monday and Friday the week after, from 10am to 4pm.
