Sylvia and Charlie Read travelled in style when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

The couple, from Cosham, knew they were having a party but were thrilled when a vintage car turned up to take them to the venue.

Sylvia and Charlie were married on September 2, 1961, at Cosham Congregational Church in Cosham.

Carpenter Charlie had helped build the church so the vicar allowed the couple to marry there.

After tying the knot, Sylvia and Charlie went on to have three children together, Julie, Steven and Michael.

They also have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Their anniversary party took place at the British Telecoms Club in Cosham.

Pompey fan Sylvia is a season ticket holder and still enjoys going to games.
