Combine finding that unusual festive gift with a day out for the family, as Christmas markets are held at two local venues.

The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum hosts its festive market with many stalls to visit including hand made crafts and arts, plus the chance to taste seasonal treats. To get you really in the festive mood, hot chestnuts are sold and seasonal music will light up the background as you browse the market.

Children will enjoy having their face painted and the whole family can wander around the historic buildings at the venue in Singleton, near Chichester.

Entry is £2.50 per person and includes access to the museum and all exhibits.

The event runs from 10.30am until 4pm, this Saturday and Sunday. See wealddown.co.uk for details.

Next weekend (November 19 and 20), Santa drops in as the main attraction at Stansted House Garden Centre’s Christmas Market. He will be in his grotto, ready for children to visit at the event which also includes a range of entertainment for kids, such as juggling, magic, face painting and craft activities.

A new addition for this year is the Stansted Christmas Maze and Wish Tree in the Walled Garden.

The event runs from 10am until 5pm next Saturday and Sunday. Admission is £5 for adults and seniors, children under 16 years free.

Stansted Park is near Rowlands Castle. Call (023) 9241 2265.
