Florence and the Machine will be topping the Friday night bill at Bestival.

Indie pop songstress Florence Welch and her band are the third of the headliners of the Isle of Wight event to be announced.

They join electronic rock pioneers New Order, who are heading up the line-up on the Saturday, and funk and soul’s finest Stevie Wonder who will play the festival out on the Sunday.

Bestival organiser Rob da Bank says: ‘The first time I met Flo she was whirling around like a spinning-top to a Paul Simon track at a party I was DJ-ing at. I hadn’t even heard her open her mouth, but she had this alluring vibe already. Her shows for us at both Bestival and Camp Bestival have been highlights for many and I’m glad we can finally seal the deal with a headline show on the Friday.’

Bestival runs from September 6-9 at Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight. Visit bestival.net
