I have received a request from railwayman Steve Wright to mention a hidden well.
Steve, who works on track renewals, says he was told that to the north of Buriton tunnel on the up side of the railway line there was once a very deep well.
Do any former railway personnel out there know of it at all?
All I know, Steve, is that there was a large amount of sidings in that area for the lime works. There must have been some kind of water supply and perhaps the well supplied it.
