Have your say

Gosport helpdesk co-ordinator Katie Perrin is 24 and fronts a band called Cultural Underground who have reached the regional finals in the Live & Unsigned contest taking place at Portsmouth Guildhall tonight.

What would be your ideal weekend destination?

Bournemouth or Brighton. Both are sunny (for the most part), have great little shops and a lot of live entertainment to see.

Not counting your loved ones, who would be your dream companion?

Simon Pegg. You can’t beat a bit of geek talk and with his knowledge and intelligence I would be guaranteed to learn a thing or two.

What music would you take with you?

Where do I begin? I like so much music, but if I had to choose, I would take some Carpenters for Karen Carpenter’s vocals, the Lord of the Rings soundtracks for the amazing scores and some classic Bruce Springsteen for the feet to tap along to.

What about something to read?

To feed the sci-fi nerd in me, I would choose Prey by Michael Crichton (author of Jurassic Park). It is about future developments in nanotechnology. A great read that I would really recommend!

What would be your ultimate way to relax?

I’d head to the New Forest with my camera and take pictures of the flora and fauna. I love nature and I love photography, so it would be a great way to merge the two.

If money were no object, which shop would you head for?

I would head to most, if not all, of the major car showrooms, as I have a big passion for cars, both old and new.

I own a Classic Mini and MGB GT but would love to own an Audi R8 and/or Porsche Carrera S if the funds were there!

What’s your all-time favourite film?

Without a doubt I would say the original 1995 Toy Story as it was the first film I felt I really connected with as a child and even now it never fails to bring a smile to my face whenever I watch it.

We’re buying the drinks tonight. What’s your poison?

A purple rain cocktail. Equal quantities of Bols Blue and Cherry Sourz mixed with lemonade. It’s girly but tasty.

What are you doing this weekend?

Performing in the next round of the Live & Unsigned competition. The Regional Showcase Final takes place at Portsmouth’s Guildhall and our show starts at 4.30pm. In the same evening we have a gig at the Edge of the Wedge in Southsea.

What’s a favourite local destination for a weekend day out?

The Isle of Wight. I love the zoo there and there are some great little shops to find a trinket or two on your travels.
