Charley Fryatt is the director of Xpress Beauty in Whiteley. The salon has just introduced child-friendly days for mums and runs a beauty school for teens. Charley is 32 and lives in Hove.
When did you last go away and where did you go?
I have just returned from a long weekend in Somerset for a friend’s birthday. For weeks we were worried we would have to cancel due to the flooding in the area, but as it turned out we had the first sunny weekend of the year! I really valued the chance for some chill-out time, plenty of fresh air and lots of laughs.
What was the last theatre show you saw?
Myself and my partner went with a group of friends to see Derren Brown. I was unsure of what to expect but was totally blown away. I spent the majority of the show with a confused look on my face and am still trying to work out how he does it.
What was the last film you saw?
Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It’s a real edge-of-your-seat thriller. I loved the film but the ending left you wanting to know more – I hate that!
What’s your favourite way to relax?
Spending time with friends. We had our first BBQ on the beach on Sunday. I love living by the sea as it always feels like a mini holiday when the sun is shining.
What do you watch on TV?
I love crime dramas, thrillers or anything that is thought provoking. Homeland was a firm favourite and I have just watched the first instalment of ITV’s The Widower.
Which celeb would you most like to spend a weekend with?
The Queen (does she count as a celebrity?) I am fascinated to see how she has any sense of normality. She has met some really interesting people and travelled to some amazing places.
Where do you shop?
Zara, Esprit, Karen Millen. I am very excited about Joules opening in Whiteley. It is so hard to resist shopping when I am in the salon and have so many shops to choose from.
Where do you eat out?
Whenever I am in Whiteley I always find an excuse to call into Montagu’s Bistro. The coffee is amazing and they have new dishes to try.
What’s your signature dish, if you’re cooking?
Fajitas – they are great meal to cook for friends. I think it is a relaxed sociable meal, filled with flavour and so easy to throw together.
What’s good for a day out locally?
Whiteley Shopping Centre of course. I love the wide range of shops, brilliant choice of restaurants and, of course, any excuse for some pampering at Xpress Beauty – a hot stone massage after a spot of shopping is a definite must.
And what about a day trip farther afield?
Hampshire is full of little villages with so much atmosphere. History, good shops and a good pub or two and I am happy.
Do you have any hobbies?
I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie and love waterskiing and wakeboarding, snowboarding and occasionally jumping out of planes!
