Oliver Ing lives in Southsea and is the producer of the big screen in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square.
When did you last go away and where did you go?
I recently went to Spain for 10 days and managed to only spend £80 on a return flight from Bournemouth airport. I enjoyed sports on a Mediterranean beach in the Spanish holiday destination of La Manga. I jetted off with four other close friends and needed time to relax, recharge and socialise.
What was the last book you read?
The last book I read would be Jeremy Clarkson’s book in Spain. It’s just full of his newspaper columns and very humorous and enjoyable to read. I’m currently reading a book about leadership from Richard Branson. It really is quite inspirational.
What’s your favourite way to relax?
This will sound odd but racquet sports help me relax. I love playing badminton and tennis. There is something about it that takes my mind off whatever problems or stress I’m facing in my life.
What do you watch on TV?
I watch far too much television. I’m a big Netflix fan, watching House Of Cards, Community, Archer, Blue Mountain State – the list goes on. I also love watching The Last Leg on Channel 4 on a Friday night. It has a great presenting team who just make me laugh about topical debates. My favourite television programme at the moment is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver where John, a Brit who has emigrated over to the US, takes the American systems and explains why they are wrong, in both a serious and humorous way. I love it.
And which TV programmes do you avoid?
I cannot understand the appeal of The Only Way Is Essex, Made In Chelsea and other programmes of the same format. I find them boring and uninteresting.
Which celeb would you most like to spend a weekend with?
I think I would love to spend a weekend with Natalie Dormer from Game Of Thrones. I think she’s a great actress and I have a feeling she would be fun to hang out with. I might also find out some exclusives about the next series.
Where do you shop?
Superdry for clothes, I love the new Gunwharf Quays store, and generally Tesco for food.
Do you have any hobbies?
I listen to radio a lot. I know that doesn’t sound much of a hobby but I’m a self-confessed anorak of radio. I also love playing badminton and tennis and video games occasionally.
