n Reginald and Blanche Fletcher are celebrating 65 happy years together with their blue sapphire wedding anniversary at the start of February.
Known to their friends and family as Reg and Midge, the happy couple first met during the Second World War when Reg saw Blanche Virgo on a carousel at a village fair.
They lived in Gloucester at the time, and it was while Reg was posted away in the navy that he proposed.
The young couple were married in the city on February 7, 1948, and went on to have two children, William and Geraldine (who sadly passed away at the age of nine).
Reg, 91, and Midge, 86, who now live in Bedhampton, also have three grandchildren, Cheryl, Elliot and Giles, and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Amy.
To celebrate the anniversary, they will be going out for a meal with their friends and members of their family.
