The annual BeachBuggin’ event is taking place on Clarence Esplanade, Southsea, this Sunday. It is the south’s premier VW, classics and custom car show and this year it is celebrating its 14th year.

Dave Western, joint BeachBuggin’ owner, says: ‘Beachbuggin’ is the ultimate VW show and it’s great to have the amazing location on Southsea Common in the heart of the seafront.

‘We are always immensely thrilled to be able to hold such a unique event and we are always overwhelmed by the amazing support given to us by enthusiasts, clubs, traders and the public.

‘The show is a fantastic celebration of all things VW, custom and classic cars for the whole family to enjoy.

‘This year is a special one for us as we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beach Buggy.’

The show is open to VWs of all eras, vintage through to modern water-cooled, custom German cars and classic cars and scooters.

The main attraction of the event is the Concourse Show ‘n’ Shine competition.

There are 17 different classes to enter and each entrant will receive a 2014 show sticker.

The show attracts the very best VWs from all over the UK which are all in contention of being selected as the favourite vehicle.

Admission is £10 to display your vehicle in the Concourse Show ’n’ Shine Arena or in the visitors’ display arena.

Entrants to the competition must arrive before midday and the judging will take place until 3pm, with the prizegiving at 3.30pm.

The event has a not-for-profit ethos and three -quarters of the show earnings go to charity. Each year two charities are selected.

The event is always well supported by a good variety of traders, from VW parts through to T-shirts, so there will be plenty to keep you entertained.

There is also a vintage market that supports local vintage traders and crafters.

The event takes place from 10am-5pm and admission is free if you walk on to the site.

Dogs are welcome at the event and refreshments will be available throughout the event.
