Keen runner Stephen Ayling is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because he has completed three marathons so far this year.

The 51-year-old, from Stamshaw, decided to run the London, Paris and Edinburgh marathons to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

And even with three long-distance runs under his belt, the logistics manager is raring to go for the next one.

He says: ‘The races were great. Each one was different but still enjoyable.

‘I have three more long-distance runs to go though this year so I am training for those now.’

As well as the marathons, Stephen has run eight times in the Great South Run.

And with every race, he pushes himself to be better.

He adds: ‘I got a decent time in Paris but I beat that in London. Then, despite all wind and rain in Edinburgh, I beat my time again.’

Stephen only had one week to prepare for the London Marathon but was thankful of the longer break before he started the Edinburgh race on May 25.

But he said it was worth it to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

‘My friend’s daughter died of cancer and it struck a chord with me,’ he says.

‘I know the charity really well and I have been supporting them for years.’

Stephen wanted to raise £2,000 from the races and has so far managed £3,275.
