LETTER OF THE DAY: HGV battle is won. Pity PCC didn’t tell us

Have your say

Helping people to locate friends or family they’ve lost contact with.

BIRCH: I am researching my family tree and wondered if anyone has come across Joseph Birch, born London, Chelsea, c.1862, a blacksmith in 1900 living at 14 Byerley Road, Kingston, Portsmouth with his Irish wife, Sarah.

In the 1901 census RG13-986-109-25 their children are Edith, aged one; Charles (Victor), three,;Henry (Joseph), eight and John, six.

Joseph Birch, who was in the Royal Navy, had three brothers, John (c.1866-?) and Henry (1868-1942) who were both in the army. The youngest brother, Thomas, died aged two in 1873.

I think Henry (Joseph) married an Elizabeth Lily Smith in 1915 and one of their children was a Henry Joshua.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in finding relatives.

Andrew Birch

DAVIS: I am trying to find Jeremy Davis, who I knew when we both went to Swanmore Secondary School in the early 1970s. The last time I saw him was about 25 years ago when he was living in the North End area of Portsmouth.

MOULAND: I am trying to locate a close friend Brenda Mouland formerly of Thorney Road, Emsworth. We were very good friends but due to personal circumstances we failed to keep in touch. There is a chance that Brenda could now be married or have a change of surname. It is hoped someone somewhere can be of help and locate her for me.
