LAWES/COOPER: My grandmother was Laura Kate Lawes (later Selway) who was born to Sarah Ann Lawes in 1880, four years before her marriage to Edward Cooper.
She moved to live with Sarah and Edward at Winchester Barracks where a further five children were born, Albert, William, Victoria, Frederick and Winifred.
The family later moved to Gosport following a fire at Winchester Barracks and two more children were born, Grace and Arthur.
I have only recently discovered that I have this extended family and would be pleased to hear from them, or to ask if anyone in the Lawes / Cooper family has any photographs of that time, particularly of Sarah my great grandmother, as I have none. I am also finding it difficult to trace Edward Cooper’s details prior to his joining the Rifle Brigade in 1877.
LAWRENCE: I am looking for any information about my aunt, Irene Alberta Lawrence, born January 4, 1922. Her last known address was, I believe, Southsea.
ALL EX OR SERVING MEMBERS OF AIRBORNE FORCES: We are looking for new blood to join us in the Portsmouth branch of the Parachute Regiment Association. We are a group who have a common bond between us. If this interests you, contact me, John Newman, secretary of the branch, for further information.

FIRST FEMALE APPRENTICES IN HM DOCKYARD: I would like to hear from anybody who has information regarding the first ever girl school leavers to be allowed into the dockyard to begin an apprenticeship. I believe there were six in number and they were admitted in 1969.
Any help would be much appreciated.
