Have your say

Ahoy me hearties, set sail for the Blue Reef Aquarium this weekend as the venue is being taken over by buccaneers, brigands and privateers as part of the Pirates’ Weekend celebrations.

Pirates’ Weekend features a variety of fun activities including flag-making, themed face-painting and the chance to have your pirate portrait photograph taken.

As well as all the aquatic displays – including the giant tropical ocean tank, the predators tank and the spectacular living coral reef display – visitors will also be able to take part in treasure trails, competitions and exciting talks about our animals throughout the day, given by staff in pirate fancy dress.

Staff will be dressed in pirates’ costumes and any child who comes complete with an eye patch, fake wooden leg or other pirate outfit will get in for free, when accompanied by an adult.

Blue Reef’s Lindsay Holloway said: ‘Pirates’ Weekend is always one of the most popular events that we hold here at the aquarium – particularly with our younger visitors but also among the staff!”

The aquarium, on Southsea seafront, is open from 10am daily.
