Caring Todd Docherty is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because he will pedal 50 miles in memory of his friend.
Todd, 21, will cycle from Waterlooville to Brighton to raise money for the Adults Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Southampton General Hospital.
He’s giving something back to the staff that work there because they cared for Nadine Blake before she died.
As previously reported in The News, Nadine, 18, of Warren Park, lost her battle with the lung condition last month.
Todd, who lives in Queen’s Road, Waterlooville, says he was devastated by what happened.
‘I wouldn’t see her all the time but I was always there for her if she needed a chat,’ he says.
‘Words can’t describe how it felt. The feeling was just horrible. I didn’t really want to believe it.
‘It took me a little while to come to terms with what happened.
‘Then I was all about wanting to do something for her (Nadine).
‘She was an inspiration and a beautiful, amazing girl.
‘At the end of the day she deserves every mile and every penny that I raise.’
Todd works at MMD (Shipping Services) Ltd at Portsmouth International Port.
He has been cycling there and back in preparation for his challenge.
So far Todd has raised £400 but he’s still got money to collect. To donate visit justgiving.com/nadineblakes50milebikeride.
