After 40 years of serving its community, a pre-school in Waterlooville has just been awarded an outstanding Ofsted.
Deverell Hall Pre-school is now celebrating a double whammy of ruby anniversary and being placed among the top schools in the country.
Jane Robinson, manager since May 2009, said: ‘I am so proud of our achievement. This was a real team effort and I am thrilled for my staff who are in this for the love of the job.
‘I call them “my girls” and they are truly deserving of this accolade.
‘What a wonderful year for us – what better ruby anniversary present than to be given our first ever “outstanding”?’
Inspector Lisa Cupples visited Deverell Hall on March 7 and was impressed with how much the children were enjoying themselves.
She wrote: ‘All children are extremely happy and settled during their time at the pre-school because all staff take the time to get to know the children and their families well.
‘Children are polite and well mannered and the staff are effective and positive role models, leading by example, as they thank the children for their help and recognise their efforts.’
Mrs Robinson said she was particularly pleased to have leapfrogged two grades – from a ‘satisfactory’ in 2007.
She said: ‘The best bit about the report was the observation of just how happy and engaged our children are.
‘There is never a moment where any one child is moping around with nothing to do, because they are always having fun.’
She added: ‘I absolutely love my job and my staff are second to none – we couldn’t have managed this huge accomplishment without their dedication and their passion.’
Deverell Hall has 55 children up to the age of five years on its roll, and is fully subscribed for the next year.
