Pub customers raised hundreds of pounds at an annual beer festival for a worthy cause which looks after young people and their families.

The Winchester Arms, in Winchester Road, Buckland, put on the event during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

A total of £500 was raised for Binstead Community Centre, in Langley Road, Buckland.

Bands performed in the bar during the weekend.

Last year the event raised an extra £300 for the centre – but landlord Paul Fewings was still happy with the amount that locals donated.

Mr Fewings, who has been in charge for the last nine years at the pub, which features in Camra’s Good Beer Guide, says: ‘Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great which stopped a few families coming out.

‘But that didn’t stop everyone who attended having a great time.

‘I’m happy with the amount of money raised.’
