Generous Xanthe Coote had never had a haircut.
So when she decided to have all 17in cut off she knew she wanted her hair to help others.
Having seen the effects of cancer, the Court Lane Junior School pupil donated it to a charity that makes wigs for children with the disease.
Nine-year-old Xanthe says she has been getting used to her new look and explains why she donated her locks.
She says: ‘It feels a bit weird because my head feels a lot lighter and it’s easier to brush and wash my hair. I decided to donate my hair because one of my friends got cancer and had all her hair taken off. She explained to me what it felt like, and I decided to help all the other children who might be going through the same thing.’
