The Mediterranean comes to the south coast as a new event takes place this weekend at West Dean Gardens.

MedFest – A Taste of the Mediterranean will feature food and drink, live music and dancing at the gardens, near Chichester.

MedFest will capture the diversity and richness of the region’s cultural and gastronomic traditions, with this year paying particular attention to Spain and Lebanon.

To get into the spirit of things, Roots Around the World is working with the event as a musical partner. It is programming the live performances and pre-recorded music guaranteed to give you an aural extravaganza of Mediterranean sound.

International flamenco company Cancion Gitana will stage Flamenco performances, supported by the widely-respected Cadiz singer Fernando Reyes, two dancers, a fiery flamenco guitarist and percussionist.

A selection of stallholders are also attending MedFest to provide a representative sample of regional takeaway foods, gourmet food products, crafts and plants including Palmavera.

MedFest takes place this weekend at West Dean Gardens, near Chichester. Tickets cost £8.50 per person if bought on line or £10 on the door.
