Zumba fans will get the chance to learn from the best at a masterclass in Portsmouth later this month.
Top teacher Naomi Makoena will be here on Thursday July 28 to lead enthusiasts through what promises to be a fun-filled session.
The zumba fitness craze – which uses Latin-inspired moves set to fast-paced music – has taken off in the UK.
Local zumba instructor Kim Musson had the idea to invite Naomi along after she joined one of her masterclasses.
‘Anyone who loves zumba will know Naomi’s name,’ says Kim.
‘She’s in all the DVDs. I said “It would be great if you could come” and she agreed.’
The class will take place at the Mountbatten Centre, in Hilsea, from 7.30pm until 9pm. The doors will open at 7pm and tickets cost £10 in advance and £12 on the door.
The event will raise money for Cancer Research UK, in support of the charity’s Race for Life.
And Kim will hold her own open-air zumba class to raise money for the charity on Saturday July 23.
She’s inviting people to join her on the football pitch at the Stacey Centre, in Copnor, at midday or 2pm for a workout.
The sessions will be free – but Kim is asking people to make donations to Cancer Research UK.
The event takes part a day before the Race for Life, in Southsea, and this will be Kim’s way of showing her support.
‘I love all exercise but hate running so this will be my doing my piece,’ adds Kim.
‘Zumba is good fun and you are getting fit at the same time.’
