Take a Spanish holiday getaway this summer – direct from Southampton
MAJORCA
For some of Spain’s best beaches, mountains, quaint old towns and a dramatic coastline dotted with caves, inlets and sandy coves, it can only be Majorca
Things to do and see:
Explore Palma
Majorca’s capital is a stunner, dominated by its famous Gothic cathedral and medieval quarter with its lovely cobbled streets. Es Baluard Museum, home to an eclectic collection of neoclassical, abstract and modernist art, is also well worth checking out.
Hit the beach
Majorca’s calm and clear waters play host to plenty of safe, sandy beaches. About 30 of the 200-plus beaches on the island have a Blue Flag and are perfect for families. However, you’ll find plenty of unspoiled and uncrowded beaches if you veer off the beaten track.
Katmandu Park
This family-friendly theme park has something for everyone, including an upside-down house, a 4D cinema and Wild West-style shoot-em-ups. There’s also the Katlantis Splash Park wild water fortress for kids and Boro, the friendly yeti.
MountainsEscape the crowds and head into the Tramuntana Mountains by train from Palma. This is a great day out and a chance to see a different side to Majorca. Make sure you take in the pretty village of Sóller with its beautiful harbour.

MENORCA
Perfect for families and couples, Menorca is blessed with beautiful, safe beaches and low-rise hotels, giving it a very different vibe to its sister islands
Things to do and see:
Ciudadela
The island’s former capital is a must see. Medieval buildings rub shoulders with designer boutiques and quaint cobbled streets lead you to a new discovery around each corner. There are some wonderful restaurants down by the quayside as well for lunch or dinner with a view!
Camí de CavallsConstructed during the 14th century to connect the island’s many cliff-top forts and castles, this 186km coastal path encircles Menorca and is one of the best ways to explore its rugged coastline and hidden coves.
Summer FestivalsFiestas run throughout the summer in Menorca and are a great spectacle. Popular ones include the Sant Joan Festival in Ciutadella, the Sant Jaume Festival in Es Castell in July, and the Ciutadella Summer Music Festival which runs throughout August
Xoriguer Gin Distillery
The British introduced distilling gin here in the 18th century and this one in Mahon is the only traditional distillery left, using copper stills that are more than 100 years old. Gin is also the island’s favourite tipple and you can try it at Xoriguer for yourself on a guided tour.
