CADETS will be taking to the open water to raise cash and awareness for charity.

The group of 43 cadets from Warsash Maritime Academy will spend 24 hours on a liferaft on the River Hamble.

They will set off at 5pm today on their challenge to raise money for Sail 4 Cancer, a specialist cancer respite charity with a sporting focus.

Cadet liaison officer David Baker said: ‘It’s a great experience and a good opportunity to enhance their training. We’re pleased to be supporting Sail 4 Cancer.’
